TIPS & IDEAS

All Södahl's table textiles are treated with a textile protection agent, rendering the cloth virtually fluid and soil repellent.
Södahl tablecloths can be used several times before washing – an advantage for you and the environment.
With correct use and treatment of the textiles you ensure that the products remain neat and presentable for a very long time.
Södahl would like to give you some advice as to how you achieve the best result:

WASHING BED LINEN
- Do not overload the washing machine.
- Iron while the bed linen is still damp
- Stretch the product into shape while wet.
- Avoid tumble- drying, as it will make it difficult to iron out creases completely.

WASHING TEA TOWELS AND TOWELS
- In order to achieve the best absorbency, leave new towels in cold water overnight.
- Avoid use of water-repellent softeners.

WASHING TABLECLOTHS
- Wash the tablecloth only when necessary; Södahl's Staincoat® treatment makes this possible.
- Avoid detergents containing bleaching agents. Avoid overdosing.
- In order to avoid white stripes on dark cloths it is recommended that minor cloths be placed in a
pillowcase or duvet cover during washing, as this will prevent wear from the drum.
- Avoid tumble-drying.
- Remember to iron the cloth after washing, on the right side if you like. This will maintain
  the Staincoat® effect.
- Do not expose the tablecloth to sunlight for longer periods of time. This may lead to fading.

WASHING SHOWERCURTAINS
If the shower curtain has become damp-stained, put the shower curtain (but not the rings) in a 1:10 solution of a product containing chlorine and cold water)

WASHING GENERALLY
- Coloured textiles should always be washed separately the first few times as they may contain
  surplus colour.
- Always wash tablecloths and placemats together to retain the same colour.
- Always wash new bed linen prior to use. If new bed linen is ironed with steam, this may leave
stains on the new pillowcase and duvet cover set – they will disappear, however, when the
  bed linen is washed.
- Some shrinkage after washing must always be expected; it is stated on the packaging how much
  the product shrinks.
To reduce shrinkage, tumble-drying should be avoided as it will lead to
  increased shrinkage.
- If the textiles smell sour after washing, clean the washing machine with citric acid.
- Overdosing softener can also lead to a bad odour in the machine.
- Wash at 60°C/140°F or above once in a while to avoid a bad odour.

STAINS GENERALLY
The quicker a stain is removed, the greater the chances are that it can be removed.

Red wine stains
If, for instance, a red wine stain has not been wiped up immediately, treat the stain prior to washing. Rub the stain with glycerine; leave it for approx. 10 minutes before you rinse it with water and soap. Subsequently wash at 60°C/140°F

Oil stains
Be careful with hot oil as the oil may more easily penetrate the cloth. Dab the stain with benzine and absorb the stain from both sides with paper towels until dry– test first in a non-visible area. Subsequently wash at 60°C/140°F.
